Solche auffälligen Großtiere stehen oft im Zentrum von Schutzmaßnahmen. Indem man ihnen geeignete Lebensräume erhält oder neue Schutzgebiete miteinander vernetzt, sichert man zugleich auch unzähligen kleineren, unscheinbaren Arten das Überleben.
